Duncan McKie

Duncan McKie is president and chief executive officer of the Foundation Assisting Canadian Talent on Recordings (FACTOR), based in Toronto.

FACTOR is a private–public partnership funded by the federal government and Canada’s private broadcasters. It was founded in 1982 by private broadcasters and the Canadian Independent Record Production Association (CIRPA). For nearly 30 years, FACTOR has provided financial support to the Canadian independent music industry and artists, creators of some of Canada’s most memorable sound recordings in all genres of music and from all parts of Canada.

Prior to his tenure at FACTOR, Mr. McKie was president of CIRPA, now known as the Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA). Earlier in his career, he worked as a policy and market research consultant, primarily for Canadian Internet, media, telecommunications and entertainment companies.

Mr. McKie lives in Toronto and holds a BA and an MA from York University.
