bikingAre you a true cycling enthusiast?

Looking for an accessible route that will get your heart pumping? The parkways offer challenges for all types of cyclists. Cycling devotees can cycle 32.5 kilometres of panoramic winding roads where cars and cyclists coexist in harmony.

Warning: Cycling on Gatineau Park's hilly terrain requires that you be in good shape and have some skill.

Alcatel-Lucent Sunday Bikedays

On Sundays, from mid-May to early September, come and cycle, in-line skate or walk in Gatineau Park. This year, the program in Gatineau Park will run from 6 am to 11 am on the Gatineau, Champlain and Fortune parkways (30.5 kilometres).

Users will be able to enjoy two additional hours of outdoor activity on a portion of the north section of Lac-Meech Road (parking lot P8), where the road will be closed from 6 am to 1 pm.

Mountain biking enthusiasts are very well taken care of in Gatineau Park, with 90 kilometres of trails that follow the main roads. The trails begin at the entrance to the Park and stretch to Philippe Lake. Camp Fortune is another spot in the Park for extreme mountain bikers. See Camp Fortune for more details.

To ensure that this activity does not adversely affect the Park, only the following trails are available for mountain biking. Click on the link at the bottom of this page to view the Mountain Biking in Gatineau Park flyer.

Biking Code of Conduct

International Mountain Bicycling Association

Promoted and recognized worldwide by the International Mountain Bicycling Association, the following rules are intended to minimize the social and environmental effects of this activity.

1. Stay on trails that are authorized for mountain bikes (shared trails.)
2. Cycle only during the permitted time period. Spring run-off and fall saturation make the trails particularly vulnerable to erosion.
3. Yield right-of-way to pedestrians at all times.
4. Control your speed at all times, especially when turning or biking downhill. To avoid accidents, alert other trail users to your presence when overtaking them.
5. Plan ahead! Know your equipment, your ability and the area in which you are riding — and prepare accordingly.

Vehicle-access fees are in effect in certain areas (Meech, Philippe and La Pêche lakes as well as Mackenzie King Estate parking lots). See the Fare System and Access link below for further details.
