Fishing in Gatineau Park

Fishing

Gatineau Park is a part of Quebec’s Fishing Zone 10 and is administered by la Société de la faune et des parcs du Québec. A fishing permit must be obtained from the Ministry.

Vehicle access fees are in effect at certain lakes. Consult the Access link below for more details.

Domestic animals are not permitted near bodies of water surrounded by NCC land.

Canoe-Kayak

Commune with nature on a canoe or a kayak trip on one of the following three lakes:

  • Meech Lake — McCloskey boat launch
  • Philippe Lake — Boat launch and rental
  • La Pêche Lake — Boat launch and rental

For information on renting canoes or kayak, consult the Equipment Rentals link below.

Vehicle access fees are in effect. Consult the Access link below for more details.

Geocaching

Geocaching is permitted in Gatineau Park, but only in close proximity to official trails (at less than 3 metres) and outside of the integral conservation zone (which includes the Eardley Escarpment). Caches must be placed at least 15 metres from lakes, waterways and wetlands. Furthermore, geocaching is not permitted in the area surrounding Pink Lake, which has a very fragile ecosystem. With the collaboration of the members of www.geocaching.com, a plan is under way to relocate the caches currently found within the integral conservation zone.

Geocaching is a great way to discover Gatineau Park. Help ensure that it remains a permitted activity, by complying with the Park’s conservation mandate when you engage in geocaching.

Please help protect the Park, each time you visit.
