NCC BRINGS VOICES OF HISTORY TO LIFE WITH "REMEMBER NOVEMBER"

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
NCCN-09-11-02-PR
November 6, 2009

Canada’s Capital Region - This November, the National Capital Commission (NCC)
invites residents, visitors, and students to relive history with a special multi-media or audio experience, or curriculum-based program.

Remember November” details, with audio and visual layers, the stories of three Canadian soldiers who fought and gave their lives for their country. Hear the stories of WW2 Soldier Arthur Wilkinson, WW2 Airman Elmer Paudash, and WW1 Soldier Théodore Dugas. Based on letters, journal entries and military records, each story is exceptional - much like those of the thousands of Canadian soldiers who served, and continue to serve, their country.

During Veterans’ Week, from November 6 to 11, 2009, “Remember November” will be available to watch or to download from the NCC website.  MP3 players* with audio-only files can be borrowed from the Capital Infocentre, 90 Wellington Street, in Ottawa. With your audio-guide, take a walk over to the National War Memorial and pay tribute to Canada’s veterans and to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for peace and freedom.

The Season of Meaning and Memory in Canada’s Capital

The month of November in Canada’s Capital offers young people dramatic insight into some of the most moving moments in our collective history. The NCC’s “Remember November” curriculum-based programming and unique student tour itineraries provide the opportunity to make remembrance real. Students will explore some of the significant chapters of Canadian history at the Capital’s museums and other attractions. On November 11, students can take a special two-hour interactive guided bus tour highlighting Canada’s military history. A visit to Canada’s national military cemetery is included.
