Canada’s Capital Region — The Rotary Club of Ottawa and its partners, in collaboration with the National Capital Commission (NCC), are proud to present the 57th Rotary Adventure in Citizenship Program. This much lauded youth program will once again bring together a selected group of young Canadians for a unique adventure of discovery and to gain a better understanding of their country.

Through a whirlwind schedule of tours, briefings, discussions and debates, 220 youth between the ages of 16 and 19 will have the opportunity to meet and get to know their fellow Canadians from different provinces, cultures, languages and lifestyles.

Various meetings with political leaders and senior officials will afford them a privileged glance into the workings of our democratic institutions. “These young people are often referred to as the future leaders of Canada,” commented Rotary Committee President, Mr. Robin Spencer. “Since the first Adventurers set foot in Ottawa in the spring of 1951, over 11,000 high school students from across the country have been given the unique opportunity to take part in the Adventure in Citizenship program. Many of them, like Adrienne Clarkson,  Joe Clark and Ed Broadbent, answered the call for civil service and went on sharing their vision of Canada with their fellow Canadians.”

Now in its 57th year, the Rotary Adventure in Citizenship program holds true to Rotary's ideals of peace and understanding, at home and abroad.  The Rotary Club of Ottawa receives tremendous support in hosting this event from organizations such as the National Capital Commission, Citizenship and Immigration Canada, Library and Archives Canada, Royal Canadian Mounted Police, House of Commons, University of Ottawa, and Rotary Clubs across Canada who sponsor one Adventurer each to come to our nation’s Capital.
