Call to Artists: Collaborative Art Project
Canadian Artists invited to engage Canadians during Canada Day in the Capital
The National Capital Commission (NCC) is seeking Canadian professional artists to develop an artistic project engaging Canadians in the creation of a temporary collaborative artwork at Major’s Hill Park in Canada’s Capital on July 1st, 2012 during Canada Day Celebrations.
The collaborative project should be inspirational, creative and focused on iconic Canadian elements that engage individuals of all ages who attend Canada Day festivities in the Capital. The project must have the capability of being created by the artist in collaboration with the public over the course of the day, and completed as the evening approaches. In the evening, the NCC will illuminate the artwork.
Every year hundreds of thousands of people visit Major’s Hill Park, an official Canada Day site, making it an exceptional place for public interaction and the presentation of works of art by Canadian artists.
Proponents have until May 22 to submit their proposal. For more information, artists may contact our Programming Coordinator at 613-239-5109 or artpublicart@ncc-ccn.ca.
For more information about the NCC’s public art programs, members of the public may contact the NCC at 613-239-5000, 613-239-5090 (TTY), 1-800-465-1867 (toll-free) or 1-866-661-3530 (toll-free TTY).
