Facilities and Services

Concession Stands

Available at Parliament Hill, Major’s Hill Park and Jacques-Cartier Park.

First Aid First aid is available at Parliament Hill, Major’s Hill Park and Jacques-Cartier Park.
Lost and Found

Lost and found boxes are kept at Canada Day information booths in these locations:

  • Parliament Hill
  • Major’s Hill Park
  • Jacques-Cartier Park.

Valuable items are turned over to local police:

  • Ottawa Police: 613-236-1222
  • Gatineau Police: 819-246-0222.
Lost Children Services

Lost Children Services are available at:

  • Parliament Hill
  • Major’s Hill Park
  • Government Conference Centre (in front of the building)
  • Jacques-Cartier Park.

Look for a sign with a teddy bear on it. We suggest that you tell your children about this service and register them immediately when you arrive at a site.

Souvenirs

Official Canada Day souvenirs are available on July 1 at these locations:

  • Major’s Hill Park
  • Jacques-Cartier Park
  • Near Parliament Hill.

You can also buy Official Canada Day souvenirs online.

Washrooms

Portable washrooms are available at each site (Parliament Hill, Major’s Hill Park and Jacques-Cartier Park).

Getting Around

Free Night Buses on July 1

Starting at 10 pm, all OC Transpo and STO buses will be free of charge.

Canada Day Shuttle Bus

10 am to 6 pm on July 1

Free shuttle between Jacques-Cartier Park (Gatineau) and Major’s Hill Park (Ottawa).

Stop locations:

  • Gatineau — On Laurier Street, in front of Jacques-Cartier Park
  • Ottawa — On St. Patrick Street, between the National Gallery of Canada and Major’s Hill Park

Parking

Parking is very limited on Canada Day due to the immense crowds and road closures. The best way to reach the Canada Day sites is by public transportation and by bike.

Road Closures

Roads by Parliament Hill, Major’s Hill Park, Jacques-Cartier Park and the Alexandra Bridge are closed on Canada Day. See the Canada Day road closures map for details.

Universal Accessibility

All official sites (Parliament Hill, Major’s Hill Park and Jacques-Cartier Park) are accessible for people with special needs. There are universally accessible washrooms at each location. For more information, please consult the People with Special Needs page.

Do Your Part for the Environment

Help us make Canada Day carbon neutral.While attending events at Jacques-Cartier Park, at Major’s Hill Park and on Parliament Hill, please:

  • Reuse — bring a reusable water bottle and refill it throughout the day at our free water stations;
  • Recycle — put recyclables in the on-site recycling stations;
  • Compost — put food waste and other compost items in the on-site compost stations;
  • Take the Bus or Ride your Bike:
    • Free supervised bike stations at each official Canada Day site;
    • Free Canada Day shuttle bus between Major’s Hill Park and Jacques-Cartier Park;
    • OC Transpo (free after 10 pm);
    • STO (free after 10 pm).

No Dogs or Pets
Dogs and pets are not permitted at Canada Day sites.
 
Exceptions are made for service dogs.
