Free OLG Sno-Bus shuttle service and street closures during Winterlude 2012
The National Capital Commission (NCC) wishes to advise residents and visitors of the free OLG Sno-Bus shuttle service and the street closures that will take place during the 34th edition of Winterlude, which will be held in Canada’s Capital Region from February 3 to 20, 2012.
Free OLG Sno-Bus Shuttle Service
Take the free OLG Sno-Bus shuttle service to travel between Winterlude sites.
OC Transpo and the Société de transport de l’Outaouais (STO) provide a shuttle service linking Winterlude’s official sites: the Rideau Canal Skateway; Rogers Crystal Garden at Confederation Park; and Snowflake Kingdom, at Jacques-Cartier Park in Gatineau. OLG Sno-Bus stops are clearly indicated on Winterlude signs along the way.
Saturdays and Sundays, February 4, 5, 11, 12, 18 and 19:
- Saturdays 10 am to 8 pm, Sundays 10 am to 5:30 pm — shuttle bus service between Dows Lake, the Rideau Canal Skateway and Confederation Park.
- 10 am to 5:30 pm — shuttle bus service between Confederation Park, Jacques-Cartier Park and the Centre Robert-Guertin park-and-ride.

Road closures on February 3rd only
On Friday, February 3rd, a spectacular musical fireworks display launched from, among other places, the Alexandra Bridge, will be one of the highlights of the American Express® Winterlude Opening.
The following street closures will take place on that day only:
- In Ottawa, access to Alexandra Bridge by St-Patrick and Murray will be closed.
- In Gatineau, Laurier Street between Victoria Street and Boulevard des Allumettières will be closed from 7 pm to 11 pm.
Closed to pedestrians:
- The pedestrian boardwalk on Alexandra Bridge will be closed from 9 am to 11 pm.
Motorists should take note that the Alexandra Bridge will be progressively closed at the following times:
- 4 pm to 11 pm: Southbound centre lane to Ottawa closed
- 6 pm to 11 pm: Bridge completely closed
Winterlude road closures
In Ottawa, Laurier Avenue West (between Nicholas and Elgin streets) and Queen Elizabeth Driveway will be closed to traffic at the following times *:
Saturdays February 4, 11, and 18:
- 9:30 am to 8:30 pm
Sundays, February 5, 12 and 19:
- 9:30 am to 6:00 pm
*Time subjected to change depending on programming requirements.
In Gatineau, Laurier Street (between Verdun Street and Boulevard des Allumettières) and Saint-Étienne Street (between Laurier Street and Notre-Dame-de-l’Île Street) will be closed to traffic at the following times:
Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, February 3, 6, 9, 10, 13, 16, and 17:
- 9:30 am to 2:30 pm
Monday, February 20:
- 9:30 am to 5:30 pm
Saturdays and Sundays, February 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, and 19:
- 9:30 am to 5:30 pm
