On August 4 to 6, celebrate gardening and landscaping with Estate in Bloom activities at the Mackenzie King Estate in Gatineau Park.
Former prime minister William Lyon Mackenzie King had a passion for gardening, horticulture and landscaping. Visit his home in Gatineau Park and experience the beauty of the gardens and wilderness trails he created.
Estate in Bloom Activities: August 4 to 6, 2012
- Guided tours of the gardens, ruins and grounds (daily)
- Games from Mackenzie King’s era (daily)
- Garden tours with volunteers in costumes from Mackenzie King’s era (daily)
- Floral crafts to exercise your artistic side (daily)
- Musical performances by the Barrhaven Fiddleheads (daily)
- Unique demonstrations:
- Beekeeping (Saturday)
- Chocolate making with chocolate-dipped flowers (Sunday and Monday)
- Edible plants and flowers (Sunday and Monday)
You can also tour the Mackenzie King Estate museum, which is open from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm each day.
Note that parkways in Gatineau Park are closed to vehicles on Saturday and Sunday mornings.
