Sections of Colonel By Drive and Queen Elizabeth Driveway temporarily closed this weekend

The National Capital Commission (NCC) would like to advise the public that sections of Colonel By Drive and Queen Elizabeth Driveway will be temporarily closed to motor vehicle traffic on Saturday, April 21 and Sunday April 22, 2012. These closures are necessary to complete the removal of the Rideau Canal Skateway chalets.

Saturday, April 21:

  • 7 am to 12 pm: Queen Elizabeth Driveway (northbound and southbound lanes) will be closed between Fifth Avenue and the Bank Street Bridge.
  • 1 pm to 4 pm: Colonel By Drive (northbound and southbound lanes) will be closed between the Bronson Avenue Bridge and Hog’s Back Road. On-ramp and off-ramp access at Bronson Bridge will remain open.

Sunday, April 22:

  • 7 am to 4 pm: Colonel By Drive (northbound and southbound lanes) will be closed between Daly Avenue and Hawthorne Avenue (Pretoria Bridge).

During the closures of Colonel By Drive, motorists and other users are asked to use Queen Elizabeth Driveway.

During the closure of Queen Elizabeth Driveway, users are asked to use Colonel By Drive.

The removal of the chalets may impact some sections of the Capital Pathway Network used by cyclists. The NCC apologizes for any inconvenience this work may cause.
