Capital BIXI is a bike share service that provides an alternative and sustainable way to get around downtown Ottawa and Gatineau.

The program encourages short, frequent trips. Simply pick up a Capital BIXI bike at one location and then return it to a station near your destination.

Capital BIXI Bike Stations

There are 250 Capital BIXI bikes located at 25 self-service stations in downtown Ottawa and Gatineau. Visit the Capital BIXI website for a map of all Capital BIXI bike stations.

Capital BIXI bikes are available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week from April to November.

How to Access the System

There are several ways to use the Capital BIXI bike system. You can:

  • subscribe for 1 year
  • subscribe for 30 days
  • buy a 24-hour access pass
  • buy a 72-hour access pass.

Note: Additional fees apply when trips are longer than 30 minutes (45 minutes for annual and monthly pass holders).

Courtesy and Safety

There are over 300 kilometres of bike paths in Canada’s Capital Region. The paths are shared with in-line skaters, runners and walkers, so be sure to follow the courtesy and safety rules.
