Jetée is an urban art project that adds vibrancy to a popular lookout in downtown Ottawa.

Jetée blends contemporary digital design with traditional materials to reinvent the space next to Major’s Hill Park. The centrepiece is unique sculptural seating where you can sit and enjoy a panoramic view of Parliament Hill and the Ottawa River. A series of curved wooden “ribs” add warmth and movement to the viewing platform, which connects to the Capital’s recreational pathways.

Recalling the area’s original forests and its species, hemlock and beech wood are used in Jetée. LED lights add a contemporary and colourful element to this signature space, and enliven the Capital’s skyline by night.

Jetée was developed in 2012 by Toronto architects Steven Beites and Christian M. Joakim of Joakim/Beites Studio.
