Eco Art
Eco Art is an annual photo contest for young Canadians. Grab your camera and show us your creative and original views on the environment. Your photo could be exhibited in Ottawa–Gatineau!
Winning photos are enlarged and displayed in popular locations in Canada’s Capital Region. In the winter, 40 Eco Art photos form an exhibit at Dows Gallery on the Rideau Canal Skateway. The Rideau Canal Skateway is the world’s largest skating rink and attracts hundreds of thousands of visitors each year, particularly during Winterlude. A selection of the winning photos is also displayed outdoors in the Capital during the busy summer festival season.
About the Contest
The nationwide contest is open to Canadian youth who are 14 to 24 years old. Photos must have an environmental theme and be submitted through Flickr from late August to the end of October. See our news postings for the call to artists (August 22) and other updates throughout the year.
Forty winning environmental photos will be shown in one or both of the Eco Art exhibits.
- Winter Exhibit: All 40 winning photos are exhibited at Dows Gallery during the Rideau Canal skating season (January to February).
- Summer Exhibit: A selection of the winning photos is displayed at an outdoor location in the Capital. The location of the summer exhibit may change from year to year.
Prizes are awarded to the top three photographers.
