Papa is a work of public art installed on Hull Island in Gatineau.
It is an enclosure created by large, multicoloured, transparent glass walls. The interior space forms a small public plaza. Passersby can sit and observe the continually changing conditions produced by the light passing through the coloured glass walls.
The artwork and the public space make the intersection more welcoming and create a visual landmark, which invites viewers to share a dynamic experience, whether passing by in cars or on foot.
Unveiled on May 17, 2010, Papa was created by Montréal artist and architect Hal Ingberg. The work was selected by a jury, through a national competition, launched in spring 2007.
