Discover the influence money has had on the societies of the past and present. Students explore different aspects of money and exchange through interactive educational programs.

At the Currency Museum of the Bank of Canada students will gain a global perspective on currency and learn about the relationship between currency and society.

The Currency Museum offers guided interaction and discovery-based learning activities. Through hands-on group activities, students will learn:

  • the origins and different forms of money
  • what makes a currency successful
  • the history, design and production of Canada’s paper money and currency
  • about money as a method of payment
  • how to distinguish between real and counterfeit bank notes
