Teachers: Your students could design one of the banners flying in Ottawa next summer! Take part in this year’s “Raise Your Voices!” contest.

The “Raise Your Voices!” National Student Banner Contest invites students to express themselves about issues that are important to them. The contest has curriculum links related to personal identity, Canadian identity and Canadian symbols.

Last year over 1,100 banners were submitted!

New for 2013: Meet Canada’s Governor General!

The artists of the top three banners and their classmates will meet with the Governor General of Canada via videoconference. During this time with His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, students will be able to discuss:

  • the winning banner,
  • how they can participate in building smarter and more caring communities, and
  • their hopes for the future.

Contest Deadline

The contest runs until February 15, 2013.
